Thomson opens first holiday design store in Yorkshire
National holiday operator Thomas has launched its first holiday design store in Doncaster.
The Thomson store on St Sepulchre Gate in Doncaster has been fully refurbished with a number of new digital and interactive features that modernise the customer experience of buying a holiday.
A touch-screen, wall mounted interactive map allows to customers to select a destination and uncover details as they zoom in and select different hotels and discover information such as local sights and Tripadvisor reviews.
The modular nature of the concept means that different elements can be trialled depending on the location and demands of each store.
Thomson, which is part of TUI UK and Ireland, has 700 stores around the country and expects to roll out the design to 100 shops over the next two to three years.
Jackie Hinds, store manager, said: “The new store has received great feedback since its opening.
“More than ever, customers are demanding an experience, not a transaction. The new holiday design stores are a great way to enhance the way customers can interact with us.
“We also have two new banquette-style booking booths in store which are proving to be very popular, and many of our holiday packages fly from the nearby Doncaster Sheffield Airport, which is really convenient for people living in the region as they can depart for their holiday from their local airport.”
Craig Hewitt, trade sales executive at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “The new store is fantastic and really adds to the customer experience of buying a holiday.
“With Doncaster now being home to a state-of-the-art Thomson store as well as a thriving Airport, travel continues to play a huge part in the local and regional economy.”
