Entrepreneur’s expanding Jesmond hair salon given makeover

Evolution Hair & Beauty, the West Jesmond-based hair salon, has grown its facilities and expanded its service range following a recent refurbishment.

Celebrating its 10 year anniversary, the business has gone from strength to strength, establishing a reputation as a premium salon in the region whilst maintaining reasonable rates.

Evolution has also extended its opening hours to work around the everyday schedules of its clients, opening early and closing as late as 10pm on some week nights.

The business, situated in one of the North East’s most fashionable areas, has flourished as a specialist yet affordable salon, recently undergoing a renovation to now boast 17 sections as well as 2 beauty rooms.

Moreover, the company now have 15 staff, specialising in services from extensions to colour technicians.

Unlike many beauty salons throughout the region, Evolution’s business has flourished during and since the recession.

Darren ensured the business did not sacrifice the high quality products it used, prioritising value added service in Evolution’s approach to clients.

Keeping prices and products at attractive prices allowed Evolution to increase business by 30% and grow since 2008, avoiding the problem of defectees as faced by many salons during the time.

The company further sets itself apart from competitors through the array of services it provides.

Establishing a colour specialist reputation, the business has found that 90% of clients come in for hair colouring in addition to a cut.

Darren, the North East’s only part time L’Oréal specialist technician, told Bdaily: “I’m delighted with the refurbishment.

“We keep with the times by maintaining our quality in both the services we offer and in the products we provide to our clients.

“First and foremost I am a businessman and the added sections maximise our floor space and will only contribute to the success of our business model.

“Myself and the team here appreciate every client we have and we can now provide more value to our customers with the additional services we have invested in.”
