Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire appoints construction manager

A West Yorkshire housebuilder has boosted its management team with the appointment of a new construction manager.

Matt Oldfield has joined Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, and its sister brand Charles Church, at the company’s Leeds headquarters. His focus will be to implement the business strategy for delivering quality affordable homes and co-ordinating the construction workforce across developments in West and South Yorkshire.

The 34-year old brings more than 13 years’ experience in the construction industry after being inspired by his father, who was also in the building trade. After completing a degree in management, Matt self-funded additional qualifications in site management, achieving national recognition from the Federation of Master Builders for excellence in construction.

Having joined the West Yorkshire team in 2004 Matt has steadily moved up the career ladder from assistant site manager to his current job role.

Matt said: “The housing industry is booming which makes the new role both exciting and challenging.

“As a business we have significantly invested in land and are currently progressing a number of strategic developments across the region. My responsibilities are to effectivity managing these projects thorough to fruition while investing in strengthening our workforces to meet our build targets.

“The thought of developing a grass field into someone’s home has always excited me and this remains my driving force.

“Having lived in a Persimmon property myself for the past nine years I feel this has given me a greater understanding from customer and business point of view.”

Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire expects to build in the region of [number] new homes this year. Having recently opened new sites in Whinmoor in Leeds, Royston, Morley, Wickersley, Bradford, Wombwell and Ossett, the housebuilder will launch a further four developments in Rotherham, Wakefield, Penistone and Castleford by the end of the year.

Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire’s managing director, Wayne Gradwell, said: “I would like to congratulate Matt on his appointment.
