NE Procurement awards £3 million contract to Newcastle’s J6

North East procurement specialist, NE Procurement, has awarded a £3 million contract to cost reduction experts, J6, following a competitive tender process to develop an exclusive pricing system for the organisation.

NE Procurement manages housing related procurement projects totalling around £50 million per annum and works with social housing providers across the North East who collectively manage over 220,000 properties.

Designed to help its members buy products, materials or labour through OJEU compliant frameworks at highly competitive rates, the organisation has procured over £140 million worth of products and services in the past six years.

The system, which will be built and implemented by March 2015, will mean increased efficiencies can be achieved for NEP members and suppliers.

Rod Brasington, NE Procurement Chief Executive, said: “We are very excited about the new system which will not only improve our offering, but will also help to maintain NE Procurement as a market leader.

“We are involving our members and representatives from our supply chain in the development and testing phases to ensure the final product is intuitive and efficient whilst being data rich. J6 were the stand out solution provider through our rigorous tender process and we are looking forward to developing a long term partnership with the team.”

The system will be bespoke to NE Procurement and will mean that orders can be processed and invoiced more efficiently, with more advanced reporting and KPI functionality available for members to view.
