107-year old Newcastle grocery delivery firm Ringtons invests in Hull expansion

Newcastle delivery company Ringtons has moved to larger premises in Hull to expand its presence in the region.

The Hull sales office of the 107 year old family-business, which delivers tea, coffee, biscuits and gifts to the homes of over 10,000 customers. throughout the community, has relocated to a new 2,425 sq.ft. site at Rugby Business Park.

The new site is home to 12 employees and contains modern office space, storage areas and loading bays from which

The company also plan to create two new jobs in the coming months which will enable it to extend its doorstep delivery service to an even wider customer base throughout Hull and the surrounding area.

The original Ringtons Hull office on Malton Street opened in 1939 during a post-World War I period of expansion throughout the UK by the north-east company, and the site became the base from which the company operated its doorstep delivery service in the area.

Shane McCulloch manager of Ringtons Hull said: “We have a lot of long-serving staff at the Hull Ringtons office and most of us have always operated out of the Malton Street base, but as time went on it became clear it was time to move on.

“We needed to move to a site which allowed us to miss out the busy city centre traffic in the morning and evenings and worked better for loading our eight vans and when taking our regular deliveries of stock.

“The new site at Rugby Business Park is an ideal base for us to reach our 10,000 customers in the region and it is a great location from us to implement our plans to add even more new customers to our regular rounds.”

Daniel Clinch Surveyor from Garness Jones Chartered Surveyors who secured the move on behalf of Ringtons said:“Despite being the oldest site owned by Ringtons the company needed a newer property to better suit its needs and allow for business growth.

“Upon securing the disposal of Ringtons’ existing building the pressure was on to secure a new site. Alongside Ringtons we looked at multiple properties and the new site at Rugby Business Park was the obvious choice – the new development is situated approximately 1.5 miles west of the city centre which provides excellent road links from which Ringtons can operate its doorstep delivery service.”
