South Shields car dealership expands team after joining Mitsubishi network

South Shields car dealership Vic Young has expanded its team after joining the Mitsubishi network.

Vic Young, situated on Newcastle Road in South Shields, has taken on five new members of staff to meet an increased demand after opening as a main dealership for Mitsubishi in September last year.

Paul Allan has joined as a fleet sales executive, bringing a wealth of experience in a variety of business development roles with a number of organisations, including most recently as a sales manager for a leading sign maker.

The role will see him tasked with focusing on fleet sales, through dealing with the increased interest from businesses and company car drivers in the Outlander PHEV, thanks to its low running costs and excellent tax savings.

Michelle Shotton has been appointed to support the fleet sales team as a fleet telesales executive.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, who started her career with Vic Young 13 years ago, Michelle will be handling telephone and online queries, along with supporting the fleet sales team and carrying out general administration duties.

Jason Pattinson and Ryan Hyde are also welcome additions to the team as vehicle technicians, while Mark Doharty joins as a driver.

Vic Young (South Shields) Ltd is a well-renowned business, with a portfolio that includes Vic Young Mobility, a specialist Motability division that supplies cars, adaptations and wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and Northern Truck Bodies, which carries out vehicle conversions.

It is also an approved Nissan Warranty and Service centre, and an approved accident and repair centre.

In 2013 the South Tyneside dealership was named Service Company of the Year at the South Tyneside Business Awards, while Vic himself received an award in recognition of his contribution to the area.

The dealership also received the Extra Mile Dealership Award at the national Disabled Motoring UK Awards 2013, which recognised its exemplary customer service. And the firm was a finalist at both the national Motor Trade Industry Awards 2013 and the North-East Business Awards 2014.

Vic, who has more than 40 years’ experience in the motor trade, said: “Taking on the Mitsubishi franchise was an exciting step and now I’m pleased to be able to welcome these new members to our team.

“Our new starters bring a variety of different experiences with them and we are sure they will all be successful here. The expansion of our team is down to how well things are going with Mitsubishi and it’s great to have them on board.”

Paul said: “We have a lot of fleet customers who are interested in the PHEV because it’s the way forward, so this is a great time to join Vic Young Mitsubishi.

“This is a fantastic company with a great team spirit and an excellent range of vehicles, so I jumped at the chance to work here.”

Michelle said: “The company has a fantastic reputation locally for having a real family feel and being a great place to work so I was overjoyed to be approached by Vic Young.

“Although I have only been here a short time, I already feel like a part of the team.”
