Carglass clears the way forward for its employees

Enabling transparency and involving employees – with umantis Talent Management

Carglass Deutschland, the German branch of Autoglass, wanted to introduce HR software that suited its corporate philosophy – it ultimately selected umantis Talent Management. A key factor was that the web-based solution is easy to use with an intuitive interface, which supports endeavors to increase employee envolvement in HR processes. Carglass’ aim is to create more transparent personnel processes, build bottom-up structures, and foster the motivation of the workforce by encouraging them to participate.

Carglass wanted its employees to be more involved in all HR processes, an aspiration it could only achieve through umantis Talent Management: “First we thought about where we wanted to go and then we started to look for a vendor to help us to get there”, said Marco Holzapfel, head of strategic personnel management at Carglass, explaining how the company went about it. “We were enthusiastic about umantis Talents Management because this software is so much more than a mere administrative instrument for the Personnel Department: It focuses on groups of employees and managers and actively involves them in all processes.”

The first step was to introduce applicants’ management in conjunction with a new career website, which elicited thoroughly positive feedback. Marco Holzapfel is very pleased by the high user acceptance rate: “Despite doubts at the beginning, we are now all delighted with the new system, both within the company and outside it. Applicants appreciate the simplified application process and our employees because it makes maintaining an overview easy.”

Carglass will be using more modules from the software for performance management and personnel development in the future: “We view the cooperation with Haufe as a long-term partnership and would like to see more processes supported by umantis Talents Management”, said Marco Holzapfel about how the company intends to proceed. Event management is next on the implementation list then the two assessment and employee performance review modules. The implementation of the remuneration module, that supports a performance-oriented split between wages and bonus, has been planned for the coming year, and succession planning is to follow at the end of 2015. “We would like to gradually build up the individual areas where we apply the software so as not to overload the organization and the users and managers with impressions and innovations” says Holzapfel – “our preferred approach is to generate a positive experience, step by step with each new function. After all, working with the software should also be fun. Anything else would mean that we have ultimately not fulfilled our goal.”
