Business Growth Hub hits 250 mentoring milestone
The Business Growth Hub is continuing to unlock the growth potential in the region’s businesses after pairing over 250 companies with mentoring experts.
In the two years that the Business Growth Hub’s Growth Mentoring programme has been running, its network of mentors has grown rapidly, helping to match businesses with the knowledge that will help them achieve their growth goals.
Of the 257 businesses paired with a mentor, those in the city centre are capitalising on the services most, accounting for 32 per cent. Companies in other areas of the region are also benefiting from the services including, Oldham (12%), Stockport (8%) and Bolton (6%).
The Hub works with a range of businesses, from start-ups through to those with 200 plus staff, and believes that every business could benefit by engaging a mentor.
It recently paired Eve Bell, the owner of online baby clothing retailer Baba + Boo with Fran McArthur, who has over 20 years’ management experience within the consumer durables sector. Fran helped Eve to improve the financial structure at the Salford Quays company and develop a clear business strategy to help achieve its growth aims.
Gill Nolan, Growth Mentoring Manager at Business Growth Hub, said: “Mentoring is a partnership approach, meaning that, with the right combination of people, it can work regardless of the size of the business. To date, we’ve matched up over 250 mentor partnerships, and an impressive 90 per cent of our past engagements have resulted in businesses achieving their growth aims, highlighting the added value mentorships are bringing to businesses in the region.
“We believe that every business in Greater Manchester should be paired with a mentor and that even just six hours of contact with an expert outside of your business can truly make a difference.”
