New six-strong team appointed at Ponteland Dental

The Osborne Dental Group has recruited six experienced members of the dental team at Ponteland Dental, the group’s third dental care and wellbeing practice, which joins Osborne Dental in Jesmond and Stanley Dental in County Durham.

The new starters are based at a fully refurbished 19th century property at Bell Villas, where they will meet the dental needs of the growing number of Ponteland and Darras Hall-based patients.

The team comprises associate dentists Dr. Chris Hanford and Dr. Katie Lawrence, therapist Jane Roddam, receptionists Vicki Cook and Deile Turnbull, and nurse Sophie Elliott.

Principal dentist Dr. Onkar Dhanoya, who is celebrating 30 years since graduating from Newcastle Dental School, Newcastle University, will also be working at Ponteland Dental. Onkar was recently awarded a Fellowship* by The Royal College of Surgeons (London), which is the pinnacle of membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Additionally, three new starters have been appointed at Osborne Dental in Jesmond, finance manager Sarah Yeung and office apprentice Shannon Jones, whilst Sophie Cresswell joins the team in a marketing manager role.

Dr. Onkar Dhanoya said: “We’ve invested in the recruitment of a highly experienced and skilled dental team at Ponteland Dental, and we know they’ll be an asset to our newest practice, which boasts the latest technology within a beautifully refurbished building.

“We’re delighted to have a permanent base for existing and new patients in the heart of Ponteland, with room for expansion. There has long been a significant demand for us to open a Ponteland practice, and we’re gearing all efforts towards making our services easily accessible – from late opening to on-site parking.

“Ponteland Dental represents a key part of the Osborne Dental Group’s growth plans – and we put our commitment to investing in people at the heart of what we do.

“Many of our dentists joined the group as trainees and have stayed with us over the course of their careers, so we are very proud of our home-grown talent and take every opportunity to invest in the continual learning, training and development of our staff. We take great pride in our highly qualified and friendly dental nursing team and practice management teams.

“Our Ponteland staff will be following the lead of our other practices in adopting a holistic approach to dentistry. We work with patients to help improve their overall healthcare – and we look into a range of factors such as BMI and symptoms of diabetes when assessing our patients’ health.

“We’re very much a North East business and have seen generations grow up with us throughout our 25-year history, so we’re looking forward to offering the same high standards of care at Ponteland Dental.”

The Osborne Dental Group employs 50 people in total.
