160 jobs created as Wetherspoons opens new Blackpool pub
The Velvet Coaster is due to to open next week following a £3.86m revamp of the building which was formerly the Lucky Star amusement arcade on New South Promenade.
Wetherspoons is a national chain with pubs around the country, the first Wetherspoons opened in 1979.
The company has announced plans to open 250 more pubs in the next five years and has already opened 12 new pubs in the last three months creating 350 jobs.
There are three other Wetherspoons pubs in Blackpool; The Layton Rakes in Market Street; The Albert and The Lion in Bank Hey Street and The Auctioneer in Lytham Road.
Rebecca White, will be manager of the pub she said to the Blackpool Gazette,“Me and my team are looking forward to â¨welcoming customers into the pub and we are confident that it will be a great â¨addition to the Blackpool community.”
