St James’ Park scores a top award
A TEAM at one of the sporting world’s most famous venues has scored a top award.
Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, which manages catering and events at St James’ Park, home to Newcastle United, won the Operations Team of the Year category at The Stadium Events and Hospitality Awards 2015.
The awards celebrate the hard work and dedication that make stadia events and hospitality run seamlessly and the winners were announced at a gala dinner at the King Power Stadium, home of Leicester City Football Club.
St James’ Park saw off competition from a clutch of the country’s top stadia to win the award – one of several won on the night by Sodexo Prestige.
«It was a fantastic night and our team’s success was very well deserved,“ said Frankie Angus, general manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events at St James’ Park.
«The Newcastle United ground is not only famous for football, but is also a hugely popular venue for all manner of corporate and social events and the Operations Team is at the heart of everything that takes place here.
“This award is a testament to their expertise and commitment.”
Among Sodexo Prestige’s other successes on the night were a hat trick of awards for the team at Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club’s Amex stadium and a win at Everton, where Sodexo employee Anna Carmichael was hailed as a Star for the Future.
Scotland’s national football stadium, Hampden Park, in Glasgow, also picked up prizes, coming second in the Large Stadia Category of the prestigious Matchday Hospitality Award and voted third overall in a list of 55 UK football and ruby stadia.
