25 jobs to be created as cinema comes to Skelmersdale
Reel Cinemas will bring between 20 and 25 new jobs to West Lancashire, after signing a deal to be part of a £10m revamp of Skelmersdale town centre.
The news signals long term commitment to the town and is the latest milestone for the £10m scheme, which will bring 500 jobs and 50,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and entertainment space to Skelmersdale, introducing a new night time economy.
MD of Reel Cinemas, Naveen Suri issued a statement to Bdaily in which he said: “We’re really pleased to be signing up to the scheme which is looking to be an exciting development for the town and we look forward to seeing material progress over the next few months.
“We are delighted to be bringing a modern multi-screen cinema to this fantastic scheme, and very much look forward to being at the heart of the community.
“Our operations in this region have recently grown significantly, and as we are looking to continue to expand our business for the foreseeable future, Skelmersdale is an ideal place to do this.”
St. Modwen has been working in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and West Lancashire Borough Council since 2007 for the delivery of a comprehensive regeneration scheme in Skelmersdale town centre.
