X Factor’s Alexandra Burke to welcome first shoppers in The Broadway
The Broadway, Bradford’s newest shopping destination, has called upon singer and X Factor star Alexandra Burke to officially open the centre at the Petergate Mall entrance at 10am on Thursday 5th November.
The Lord Mayor, Leader of the Council, Cllr David Green and Westfield and Meyer Bergman, as well as several local community heroes will also be in attendance.
The £260m development will create 2,500 new retail jobs and is the largest retail centre in the country to open in 2015.
The Broadway features department and fashion brands, including anchors Marks & Spencer and Debenhams, and high street fashion stores H&M, Next, Topshop, Topman, New Look, schuh and River Island.
Alexandra Burke said: “It’s an honour to be invited up to Bradford to open The Broadway shopping centre. I look forward to meeting the people of Bradford and cutting the ribbon on opening day and also maybe doing a little shopping.”
Myf Ryan, Westfield Director of Marketing, added: “The opening of The Broadway will mark a fantastic day for the people Bradford. We’ve enjoyed getting to know the Bradford community over the last few months and working with them to showcase the soul that already exists in Bradford through our #NewCitySoul campaign. We wanted to extend this into our opening event, with opportunities for the community to get involved over the launch weekend.”
Bradford Council Leader, Councillor David Green, also commented: “We’re really looking forward to the grand opening of the Broadway shopping centre. The launch looks amazing and is bound to bring in the crowds. It will lead on to the Christmas lights spectacular and our very popular reindeer parade the following weekend which gives shoppers lots of reasons to come to our city and enjoy the run-up to the festive season.”
In addition, The Broadway also includes a seven-unit food court and a range of nationally recognised restaurants – including Patisserie Valerie, Taco Bell and Wrap Chic.
