Palm House to host free Sunday concerts

Sefton Park Palm House is encouraging the North West to unite in song during a series of free Sunday concerts.

From November 15 until December 20, the Grade II* listed Victorian glasshouse will see the arrival of a variety of local acts, who will entertain and captivate guests within the picturesque floral surroundings.

Ideal for afternoons spent with family or friends, all five shows will run between 2-4pm and will showcase an eclectic mix of audio assembles, ranging from up-beat pop music to relaxing acapella.

Director of Sefton Park Palm House Moira Leonard said: “Renowned for our holistic approach when it comes to delivering events to suit all ages, we are delighted to welcome a whole host of diverse music acts.

“Our concerts are the perfect accompaniment to a Sunday stroll around the beautiful Sefton Park, and best of all, they are completely free to attend. It’s certainly a novel way to end the week, as many of our performers encourage guests to get involved and exercise their vocal cords.“

Kick starting the varied line up on November 15 is a duo of music maestros called Timepiece, which aims to take guests through 70 years of music by highlighting a song from each decade – followed by Lazy Daze, a Barbershop quartet who will sing verses from past and present eras. Then on November 22 Disneyland Paris performers PopVox will deliver a medley of Christmas carols.

With the festive merriments in full swing, Maghull Wind Orchestra will showcase a unique instrumental concert on December 6, followed by a spellbinding ‘Big Band’ enactment carried out by the Duke of Lancaster Band on December 13. To complete the yuletide trio will be the Liverpool Harmony Group, who will deliver a variety of traditional Christmas melodies in true Barbershop style on December 20.

Moira added: “With the autumnal months in full swing and winter fast approaching, what better way to spend the afternoon than relaxing and unwinding amidst the beautiful crown jewel of Sefton Park? Our Sunday concerts will most definitely lift your spirits, leaving you feeling warm and fuzzy on the inside.“
