This week's North East appointments

A roundup of appointments froma cross the region this week.

Archers Law

Stockton legal firm Archers Law has strengthened the team with nine additions taking it to 18. Including the private client team, the firm has a full headcount of 55.

David Adams, Partner and Head of Business Client Services for Archers Law, said: “The recruitment we have carried out is reflective of both the success of the firm, and the success of the Tees Valley as a whole.

“We have strengthened our plans, and they all point towards growth. We always try to grow organically, so as the business expands further then we would obviously look to expand the teams.”

On boosting the legal experience in the business team, Lauren Mills has joined the employment team with a wealth of experience in the sector, while Dan Flounders is now a solicitor with the corporate team having completed his training and qualifying with Archers.

Angela Torrance, a Partner has moved from private client to business client, while Rachel List recently joined the commercial property team from another legal firm.Five other recruits provide legal support to complete the team.

Jillian Coleman, North East BIC

The North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) has appointed Jillian Coleman as centre manager for its newest centre, The Hub in Washington.

Jillian, 44 is responsible for the day-to-day management of the new state-of-the-art building, which opened its doors in July this year.

She said: “This is an exciting time not only for me in my career but also for the development of The Hub. The Hub provides so much more than just flexible managed office space. It is a business community which is starting to thrive and although it’s only three months since we opened our doors, the centre is already almost half full.”

Steve Cook, Story Homes

Steve Cook has joined Story Homes as Site Manager.

Steve, 44, of Wolviston Village, near Billingham, said: “I joined Story Homes as it is a family-owned business with great pride in its work and product.

“Story Homes is making waves in the region at the moment among the house building community because of its successes and the quality of product.

“At Fallows Park we’re continuing that drive for quality – the show home foundations will go up in the next week or so and we have a sales launch in late November.”

John Tweedlie, CA Group

Durham building envelope specialist CA Group has bolstered its senior management with the help of business adviser UNW’s Strategic Talent team.

The company, one of only a handful of North-East companies held in an Employee Benefit Trust, enlisted chartered accountants UNW’s unique Strategic Talent department to help it bring in John Tweedlie as manufacturing director.

John Tweedlie brings with him 25 years’ manufacturing experience, in roles from production engineering to interim managing director. He has formerly been a board member of six companies, in five countries and most recently operations director at County Durham subsea equipment manufacturer Tekmar Energy.

David Wilson, Clive Owen Corporate Finance

David Wilson, from Teesside, has joined Clive Owen Corporate Finance, in Darlington, which is part of accountants and business advisers, Clive Owen LLP.

David has more than 20 years’ of experience working in public practice and industry and commerce. He was responsible for all corporate finance work with his previous firm including strategic reviews, financial forecasts and due diligence work. He is also a specialist in liaising with banks and alternative funders to secure the best deals for clients.

David said: “I’m excited to be working for Clive Owen corporate finance. They have developed an excellent reputation in the region and have worked on many significant corporate finance deals. They have clients based across many sectors and I am looking forward to working with a range of interesting businesses.”

Catherine Briely, Restaurant Design Associates (RDA)

South Tyneside-based Restaurant Design Associates (RDA) has appointed Catherine Briely to its senior team, to develop client relationships and pinpoint new target markets.

Catherine has a wealth of experience in the catering industry, having held business development manager roles at Catering Design Group Ltd, Mellors Catering Services and Compass Group UK over the course of her career.

Catherine said: “I worked with RDA for a number of years during my time at Compass Group, so I am very fortunate to know MD Roy Addyman and his team. I have always been impressed with the unique designs and project management that RDA provided for me in the past, so when an opportunity arose to develop the business further, I was eager to join.

Jonathan Grant & Andrew Jackson, Owen Pugh Group

The Owen Pugh Group has appointed Jonathan Grant as group commercial director and Andrew Jackson, non-executive director, joining Robin Armstrong, group logistics director and John Dickson, company chairman and managing director as they lay out their vision for the company’s development over the next five years.
