Cumbria hotel creates eight jobs with new £1m spa

Appleby Manor Country House Hotel in Cumbria has created eight jobs with the launch of its new £1m spa, which was developed with funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

Facilities at The Garden Spa include a hydrotherapy pool, salt inhalation room, steam room, sauna, foot spa and showers.

The husband and wife team who own the hotel, Mike and Angela Dunbobbin, hope the expanded offer will further widen the appeal of Appleby Manor as a destination venue.

Mike said: “The new spa is outstanding and we are thrilled with the results. The facilities are first class and will enable customers to achieve the ultimate levels of relaxation.

“The addition of a spa has been one of our key objectives for the business for a number of years.”

He added: “By developing it, we have not only improved the facilities on offer at the hotel but we have also widened our potential customer base and created additional revenue streams.”

RBS supported the development of the £1m spa with a fee-free loan.

Mike continued: “I’d like to thank the team at Royal Bank of Scotland for their support which has enabled us to complete the project to an impeccably high standard.

“The funding we have received has meant that we have been able to create a first class spa that has the best facilities on offer.”

RBS relationship director Georgie McRoberts called The Garden Spa a “great addition to the hotel”.

She said it will “prove undoubtedly popular with visitors and local residents alike”, adding: “Mike, Angela and their team have created an amazing facility and we are looking forward to continuing to work alongside them on this project.”

The Garden Spa will be open to the public as well as hotel guests.
