Cheshire Stanneylands Hotel snapped up for £4.15m
The owners of The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford have acquired The Stanneylands Hotel in Wilmslow for £4.15m.
Entrepreneurs Mark Boler and Gary Corbett, The Stanneylands’ new owners, have been looking to grow the Mere brand with a second site for the last year.
Now, the pair plan to revamp the 55-bedroom property into a boutique country house hotel next summer by refurbishing the guest rooms and public areas.
Further, Mark and Gary have revealed plans to invest in employee training.
The acquisition comes as the previous owner of The The Stanneylands, Prima Hotels, went into administration earlier this year, following which three of the company’s other properties across England were sold.
Discussing the deal, Gary said: “The strategic acquisition of The Stanneylands allows us to transfer the operational and customer experience that we are renowned for delivering at The Mere to The Stanneylands, coupled with our plans to improve the product and services on offer, we are confident that this will delight existing guests as well as attract new customers.
“The Stanneylands product and reputation is a perfect fit to spearhead our ambition to grow the operation of The Mere brand.”
In addition to its rooms, The Stanneylands Hotel includes a restaurant and the Calico Café Bar.
Mark commented: “We’re delighted to be the new owners of The Stanneylands a hotel that has an amazing history and reputation in the local market.
“We are really excited about the investment planned, getting to know the team and in restoring this hotel to its former glory with a little twist of Mere magic.”
