Suttons strengthens food and beverage sector presence with new container fleet
Suttons Group, the international logistics and supply chain firm, has invested in a new fleet of 20ft, food-grade tank containers.
The company, which has its UK headquarters in Widnes, will use the new containers to serve lanes between North America and Europe, potentially strengthening its food and beverage transit business.
Steve Lonsdale, the regional director of Suttons Americas, called the food and beverage sector a “natural market” for the company.
He said: “Our approach to safety, compliance, product quality and security are all essential attributes required for food and beverage transit and we are able to complement that ability with our knowledge and experience of intermodal bulk logistics and supply chain.
“Due to the increased capacity which tank containers offer in comparison with traditional transport methods, together with more flexibility in terms of production, packaging and storage, we have seen an increase in food grade products transported with tank containers.”
The new food tanks, added to Suttons’ global fleet of over 6,000 tank containers, were built in partnership with Hong Kong-based manufacturer Singamas.
