Profits set to jump at Sunderland’s ScS following increased order intake
Sunderland-based ScS is expecting to report profits significantly ahead of current market expectations for the current financial year.
One of the UK’s largest retailers of upholstered furniture and floorings, the firm today revealed a positive trading update, ahead of announcing its half year results.
Trading over the key Christmas and January sales period remained strong within both ScS and House of Fraser, resulting in total like-for-like order intake going up by 8.8% for the 25 weeks ended 16 January 2016.
This is an especially pleasing result for the firm when judged against its tough comparatives in the previous year.
The news follows the announcement earlier this month that Chris Muir has been named as the firm’s new Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Board Director, from Monday 4 April 2016.
David Knight, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Whilst we still have key trading periods over Easter and the two May bank holidays in the current financial year, we are delighted with the performance over the Christmas and January sales period and for the year to date.”
