Camerons Brewery to bring Head of Steam brand to Sheffield, creating 30 new jobs
Hartlepool-based Camerons Brewery is expanding its operations across the North, investing a six figure sum to open a new Head of Steam pub venue in Sheffield.
The move, set to create up to 30 new jobs at the site, marks Camerons’ first venture into the city. Last month the firm, which stands as the ninth largest single brewery in the UK, landed a £30 million funding package from HSBC to fuel the growth of its pub retail estate.
The Old Monk venue, located on Norfolk Street, close to the famous Crucible & Lyceum Theatres, is to undergo a complete refurbishment that will transform the site in time for an April opening.
The company has also continued its working partnership with Longhorns Barbecue Smokehouse which will oversee the running of the kitchen at the new Head of Steam and deliver a smokehouse BBQ option to Sheffield punters.
Chris Soley, Director & General Manager at Camerons Brewery, said: “It is an exciting time for the company as we look to develop our brands through significant investments and launches throughout the Northern region. The Old Monk acquisition fits perfectly into our growth plans and will be an exciting addition to our Head of Steam portfolio in Yorkshire.”
Camerons’ latest acquisition follows the addition of its second Head of Steam location in Leeds, in Headingley, which is also undergoing a complete refurbishment and is expected to open in April.
Mr Soley added: “Since adding the Old Monk to our growing retail estate, it has always been our intention to turn this venue into one of our premium Head of Steam cask and craft outlets. It is a fantastic opportunity for Camerons and we are delighted to see our pub group extend outside our traditional North East area.
“The prime city centre location, so close to the Crucible Theatre, was a key reason why we took over the Old Monk and we believe that it will develop into one of our flagship pubs.”
