Peruvian restaurateur bringing family cuisine to new five-storey restaurant in Piccadilly

Peruvian chef Martin Morales is bringing the new Peruvian food concept, Casita Andina, to Piccadilly at 31 Great Windmill Street in London.

The new restaurant, which is due to open on 28 July, will occupy the five-storey building after current occupants, The Piccadilly Restaurant, decided to sell the 2,190 sq ft property.

Morales, who is well known in the capital for his Ceviche restaurant, is drawing inspiration from Peruvian picanterias, family-run restaurants that serve the local community and travellers in the chef’s home country.

Designed in conjunction with Southwark-based Cantor Masters Interior Designers, the 58-cover restaurant will feature a bar, takeaway and seating area on the ground floor, with a 30-cover dining room on the upper floor with open air patio and outdoor seating.

Speaking about his vision for the new restaurant, Martin Morales commented: “With Casita Andina we want to do something different to anything we’ve done before. The site has a great restaurant heritage, once called ‘The Little Cottage’. We want to build on that heritage, turning it into a cute picanteria, and bring the charm back into Soho.”

Commercial property specialists Shelley Sandzer advised the Piccadilly Restaurant on the deal, and the firm’s Leo Feldman said: “This is a great location for Casita Andina in the heart of Soho, close to both Piccadilly Circus and Shaftesbury Avenue. We are pleased to have been able to help find a great operator to take on this site.”
