Multiple restaurant openings boost catering sales at Liverpool ONE
The dining offer at Liverpool ONE has grown with a string of new restaurant openings, driving up catering sales for Merseyside’s busiest retail and leisure complex.
Just recently the shopping complex saw the launch of a 3,066 sq ft restaurant from Caribbean chain Turtle Bay, the firm’s second in Liverpool, and a 5,418 sq ft site from Thai restaurant Busaba, both on Hanover Street.
Earlier this year, leisure operator New World Trading Company brought its pavilion-style bar The Club House to the city by establishing a two-level, 7,446 sq ft restaurant at L1.
The newcomers follow a string of openings announced in the latter half of 2015, including Mexican chain Wahaca, US-style diner Reds True BBQ and Roxy Ball Room, a venue offering a mix of dining, ping-pong and pool.
According to investment firm Grosvenor Fund Management (GFM), which runs Liverpool ONE, the complex’s catering sales during Q1 saw a year-on-year increase of 5.6% as a result.
GFM’s director of portfolio management, Miles Dunnett, said: “Liverpool ONE has a dining and leisure mix that is unrivalled anywhere in the North West.
“The quality and variety of food and entertainment available not only complements the retail offer for visitors whose primary motivation for visiting Liverpool ONE is to shop, they are a reason to visit in their own right.”
Busaba CEO Jason Myers, who caught up with Bdaily’s North West editor in February to discuss the brand’s growing national presence, said the company’s L1 restaurant has been “hugely successful”.
Jason added: “We are pleased to be part of the new dining scene on Hanover Street offering people in the North West the chance to sample the true taste of modern Bangkok within a cool and vibrant environment.”
Property consultants Metis Real Estate Advisors and Cushman & Wakefield represented L1 during the deals, while JLL and Syteways acted for Turtle Bay and Reds True BBQ respectively.
