Meltham classical hotel acquired in a seven figure deal
The Durker Roods Hotel in Meltham, near Huddersfield, has been acquired in a seven-figure deal.
Harimoor Hospitality Ltd purchased the hotel after securing funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Durker Roods is a refurbished classical hotel with 29 rooms, which also caters for weddings and events with a large banqueting suite, a David Brown inspired lounge bar and meeting rooms.
The property was converted into a hotel in the mid 1970’s and had been the former residence of business entrepreneur Sir David Brown of Aston Martin Cars fame.
Jay Patel of Harimoor Hospitality led the acquisition of Durker Roods Hotel. He is a hotelier who also owns The Welcome Inn in Rotherham.
Jay Patel, Director at Harimoor Hospitality said: “We are delighted to complete the acquisition of Durker Roods Hotel. This is a well known and attractive hotel set in an appealing village location with close links to the M62 and Huddersfield.
“This is an excellent addition to our hotel portfolio alongside The Welcome Inn in Rotherham and we will retain current staff to ensure the smooth running of the hotel. We are grateful for the assistance provided by Nick Milner at the Royal Bank of Scotland who has structured loan facilities to support the purchase.
“This is an exciting time for our family as we acquire our second hotel and we are looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers to the hotel.”
Nick Milner, senior relationship manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland, added: “Jay Patel and his family have a great track record of success as seen with their ownership of the Welcome Inn in Rotherham.
“They will be extending their expertise into the running of the Durker Roods Hotel in Meltham and we are very pleased to help them expand their business operations.”
