Protecting your blog posts from content thieves
If you ever believe that thieves are only limited to offline world and are only after your money and physical belongings, think again.
Online thieves are here and increasingly difficult to track but ways to safeguard your content do exist. Scroll below to read my top tips on dealing with content thieves.
Contact the Blogger
Once you have discovered that someone has copied the content you have written iny our blog, you need to contact the webmaster of that blog and asking him politely to remove the copied thing from his blog.
It might appear absurd but that fact that is that majority of newbie bloggers do not have any fair idea about internet and they think that it is legitimate to copy and paste things from anywhere they like.
So, to make them aware that there is no such thing as free and to make them face the reality, you need to shot a mail to them explaining in plain English why they should remove the content. Hopefully, this may work.
Contact Blogger Host
However, if the aforementioned process does not work, you need to go to extra mile. It happens that sometimes all your request and your angry mails get dumped in to the trash and therefore, you need to contact the hosting service provider of that website and then give them a deadline to fix the problem. However, if the hosting company appears to be uncooperative, you can always threaten him with a DMCA takedown notice and hope this will work.
However, the above-mentioned process will work when someone has already copied and posted your article. But as it appears, this is a time consuming process. So, better safe than sorry. We suggest taking some extra precautions that may add some added layer of protection to your blog against plagiarism.
Antileech
This is the most powerful wordpress plug-in, I have ever come across. When a bot will try to scrape content from your blog this RSS plugin will automatically track it and will sever a poorly written or spun content to those bots and thereby, it will save your hours of hard work and honest labor.
CopyScape
If you get subscribed for the paid version of CopyScape, you will automatically be informed whenever your content is copied. Moreover, you can add CopyScape banner at the side bar or at the footer so that content thieves think twice before try to copy your content and pass it as theirs.
Have you ever been a victim of content thievery? What are your most effective ways to combat content thieves? Why not comment and share your experiences?
