More signings part of Blyth Town FC transformation

Blyth Town FC First Team manager is continuing his monumental team overhaul by signing two more players.

The Northern League division two team has recently undergone a substantial revamp since its FA Vase defeat with manager Mick Connor appearing to continually strengthen his team with a number of talented new signings to ensure a competitive campaign.

Having previously played for teams including New Fordley, Joe Besford, from Annitsford and Blyth lad Liam Gillespie, who has recently returned to the UK from a full football scholarship in America, are the latest players to sign with the squad.

Manager Mick Connor said: “It is great to welcome these two very talented players to Blyth Town. We have had five new signings this month alone and the team is getting stronger each game.

“I’m delighted that although they had been approached by other clubs, they decided Blyth Town was the right fit for them and I am sure they will be a valuable asset to us.”

Following in his championship footballer brother’s footsteps, Liam Gillespie was approached to join NUFC’s academy team but insisted on returning to his roots in Blyth.

“I am very proud of where I am from,” he said. “I have come home to play for my home team and intend to make a name for myself and a career from it if I can.

“Blyth Town has some of the best coaches and managers in the Northern League and has an exciting vision to take the team all the way to promotion and I wanted to be on that journey with them.”

Blyth Town FC First Team will be playing its next Northern League home game on Saturday, October 8, against Tow Law Town, kick-off at 3pm.

Each BTFCFT home game is £5 entry on the door with concessions available by emailing BTFCFT on info@blythtownfirstteam.co.uk
