Artisan bakery brands expand their London line-ups at Seven Dials

A new Scandinavian bakery and coffee shop is coming to Shaftesbury’s Seven Dials shopping and leisure district in London’s West End.

Nordic Bakery has taken a 928 sq ft site at 55 Neal Street to house what will be the bakery brand’s fourth site in the capital after opening outlets in Soho, Marylebone and Dorset Street.

Opening in December, the bakery will serve up a range of authentic Nordic dishes including smoked fish and their own spin on the Finnish cinnamon bun, with the Scandinavian theme extended to the brand’s interiors.

Meanwhile, rival bakery brand Bread Ahead Bakery is set to open its second site at Seven Dials after signing on for 520 sq ft property at 1 Monmouth Street.

Beginning life as a supplier to Borough Market, the London-based bakers will offer freshly-made filled brioche buns and doughnuts from their new site in the West End.

Julia Wilkinson, Portfolio & Group Restaurant Strategy Executive at Shaftesbury, commented: “Nordic Bakery and Bread Ahead are excellent new additions, both passionate about what they do and sure to bring something different to Seven Dials.

“Together with the investment made in relocating 26 Grains, a homegrown success story for Neal’s Yard, they create a shining example of Shaftesbury’s curation of the area. The exciting cafés and restaurants here complement Seven Dials’ distinctive international fashion and lifestyle offer.”

Miisa Mink, co-owner of Nordic Bakery, added: “Our location on the main pedestrian walkway of Neal Street is close to the interconnecting streets of Seven Dials and offers visitors a peaceful place to stop and enjoy a fika or to take away a coffee and lunch.”
