Head of hospitality appointed at luxury retirement village
Award-wining Buckshaw Retirement Village has appointed a new head of hospitality to manage all the site’s catering services.
Gary Williams, a professionally qualified and highly experienced catering manager, joins the Lancashire organisation at a time of further investment in staff and facilities.
Gary, 52, who has managed kitchens within the health and hotel sectors for more than 20 years, is a married father with one son, who lives nearby in Euxton, Chorley.
“I’m really looking forward to the new role, an environment where I can put my catering, management and customer care skills to making a positive contribution,” he said.
“Buckshaw is a retirement village that caters for a broad range of people, with very differing dietary needs. The overall ethos is one of offering residents a high quality service, exceptional care, promoting independence and enhancing wellness.”
Gary intends to maintain the focus on working with good, local suppliers providing high quality, locally sourced and seasonal ingredients wherever possible.
He said: “We place great value on the freshness and provenance of our food. We operate two different style kitchens offering very different meals to our independent residents and those livingmanaging with a dementia. Whatever we offer, there is a consistency of quality and an emphasis on taste and nutrition.”
Buckshaw Retirement Village comprises three distinctive living communities: The Grange, a luxury assisted living environment; The Lodge, a high quality dementia care home; and The Court, which is privately owned independent living apartments.
Buckshaw is part of The Hica Group, a not for profit organisation, which operates a portfolio of 20 residential care homes, five of which are for people with a learning disability, along with two retirement villages. The company also runs a home care service providing approximately 11,500 hours of support and care from four regional offices in the North of England.
