Leeds United announces new director of football
Leeds United has announced the appointment of Victor Orta in the role of director of Football.
Victor began his career at Sevilla in 2006, the year the Spanish side won the UEFA Cup.
Following the success, he was then promoted to the role of technical director with the Spanish team, before leaving in 2013 to join Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Orta went on to join Middlesbrough in December 2015 and played a major role in the club’s automatic promotion to the Premier League in May 2016.
Speaking about his new role at Leeds, Orta said: “I am excited by the opportunity to become Director of Football at a great club like Leeds United.
“Once I had met with Andrea Radrizzani and spoken to him about his plans to take the club forward, I knew that this was the right move for me and I am confident that we can achieve great things in the coming years.”
Chairman Andrea Radrizzani added: “I am delighted to welcome Victor to Elland Road, I have been impressed by his knowledge of the game, his extensive scouting network and his desire to help us achieve our objective of getting Leeds United back to the Premier League.”
The appointment of Victor Orta comes just days after the club announced Angus Kinnear is to become the clubs new managing director.
