Local duo complete acquisition of Barnsley pub
A pub in Barnsley is under new ownership following an acquisition deal supported by Royal Bank of Scotland.
Located in Elsecar, The Crown Inn has been taken over by Mick and Kath Cobb, who purchased the freehold of the pub following the retirement of its previous owners.
Mick and Kath have a great deal of experience in the catering and hospitality industry. Landlady Kath previously held the leasehold of the establishment between 1997 and 2001.
Situated on Hill Street, The Crown Inn serves a variety of local ales, beers, wines and spirits and wholesome food. The pub was voted Barnsley CAMRA pub of the year in 2016.
Kath Cobb, owner of The Crown Inn, said: “I am really pleased that we have been successful in our bid to acquire The Crown Inn.
“Having worked there on and off for the best part of 20 years I am already really familiar with our customers and am looking forward to keeping it thriving for the enjoyment of the local community.
“We intend to continue to run the pub to its current high standards, serving a variety of traditional pub grub, local ales and quality beers, wines and spirits and will also be refreshing some of the internal décor.
“The support we have received from Michael Ward and the team at Royal Bank of Scotland during the acquisition process has been excellent. The funding process has been handled very smoothly and he has been on hand throughout to provide assistance.”
Michael Ward, relationship manager at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “I am pleased that we have been able to support Kath and Mick to acquire The Crown Inn.
“They are both well-known and liked within the local area and are a great team to take over the pub.”
