Family-run hygiene specialist wins five-year, £1.25m contract with Hull City Council
Elliott Hygiene Ltd has been awarded a five-year contract by Hull City Council, as part of a deal worth £1.25m.
The company has supplied catering equipment, hygiene items and cleaning products for council sites from school kitchens to the Guildhall for the past three years.
Elliot Hygiene has been re-awarded the tender after a competitive bidding process.
Councillor Helena Spencer, portfolio holder for business support and change, said: “I welcome Elliott’s, a local family run business, being awarded this contract; having continually demonstrated value for money and a good work ethos.”
New processes and products the firm introduced during its first contract period, in close collaboration with council officers, has saved the authority a significant amount of money and helped to ensure hygiene best practice across its estate.
As a result, Elliot Hygiene has won a further three years, with a possible further two-year extension at the council’s discretion.
Janette Elliott, co-owner and director, added: “We’re absolutely delighted with the outcome. We’ve worked hard to develop a really close and responsive relationship with the council – as well as proactively introducing changes which have vastly improved both efficiency and standards across the venues that we service.”
Among the changes that the company have introduced include replacing all soap and detergent dispensers within council venues and kitchens, with larger containers fitted with the latest automatic dosing equipment.
Elliot Hygiene has also introduced more environmentally friendly cleaning products, soaps and paper towels – as well as efficient recycling processes – to help the authority achieve its sustainability goals such as packaging reduction through re-use and recycling
Now that it has been awarded the new contract, Elliott’s hopes to further reduce costs with the introduction of a new online ordering system.
Janette commented: “At Elliott’s, we are always horizon scanning to proactively identify new developments which could be of benefit to our clients in terms of everything from cost to their corporate social responsibility status and reputation.
“We pride ourselves on blending exceptional customer service, with a drive to innovate and maximise efficiency. A recent satisfaction survey also scored customer feedback at 9.68 out of 10.
“When we carry out a hygiene audit, we consider everything, from the effectiveness of the cutlery and crockery used in a kitchen, to the cleaning equipment an organisation has and how this relates to the amount of time it takes its employees to complete cleaning tasks.”
