30 new jobs to be created as Wetherby pub group unveils expansion plans
A Wetherby-based pub group has announced its business expansion plans whilst proving Burton Leonard villagers, in Harrogate, with free fish and chips to mark Yorkshire Day.
The group, Hexagon Inns, is gearing up to expand its portfolio of pubs over the next two years, resulting in the creation of up to 30 new jobs.
The group says that all of the newly acquired pubs will be located within 50 miles of Harrogate.
Hexagon Inns is aiming to replicate the success of the refurbished Hare & Hounds pub in Burton Leonard, which was acquired in October 2016. As a result, five full-time jobs and eight part-time jobs were created.
Andrew Rickard, managing director of Hexagon Inns, said: “Following the reopening of the Hare & Hounds, we have seen real potential in breathing new life into old pubs with a contemporary décor and a locally-sourced menu. We want pubs to become the heart of the community again.”
Villagers living near The Hare & Hounds pub in Burton Leonard were treated to free fish and chips at the pub on Mill Lane. The venue features a renovated restaurant area.
Jac Dalton, deputy manager of The Hare & Hounds, added: “Whether it’s fish, meat, game or wine, we take great pride in working with local producers from the Harrogate area to source the very best produce for our menus.
“We think fish and chips is the perfect dish to give away to our loyal local customers on Yorkshire Day because the region is home to the very best fish and chips in the country.”
Traditional battered haddock, chips and mushy peas remains a constant feature of The Hare & Hounds’ menu.
