Jules Quinn goes for growth
Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe awardee and business entrepreneur Jules Quinn of The TeaShed has relocated her existing business and the latest venture, Popaball, from the original 3,000 sq ft unit at Benfield Business Park to a 9,500 sq ft building on the same business park in east Newcastle.
Ms Quinn has taken much larger premises to accommodate expansion due the successful restructuring of the business to form two separate businesses, the original The TeaShed and the most recent, Popaball.
She says: “The team has grown to 40 and we continue to recruit in anticipation of a very active end of year. Benfield Business Park is a great location for our ever growing team as it is very accessible with convenient transport links and it has 24 hour security.”
Retailers stocking Popaball products include Fenwick, Lakeland, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and more. Broadly it’s a 50/50 split between online sales and business to business.
Mark Proudlock, partner, industrial agency at Knight Frank, who acted on behalf the landlord, M7 Real Estate, says it’s exciting to see such a vibrant North East company experience such meteoric growth during our involvement with them. “We’re delighted that we have assisted in ensuring they have the property platform they need to underpin their future success,” says Mr Proudlock.
Benfield Business Park also welcomes St Oswalds’ Hospice which will occupy The TeaShed’s original 3,500 sq ft unit. In a separate deal at Benfield BP Funshack recently obtained planning consent for a 60,000 sq ft Kid’s play centre due to open later this year.
Mark Proudlock added: ‘It’s great to see Benfield Business Park grow from strength to strength welcoming a diverse range of companies and mix of uses and creating employment and economic benefits in the heart of Newcastle.“
