Global electrical manufacturer relocates to Port of Tyne

Victor Products Limited, a subsidiary of Federal Signal Corporation, has relocated its North East manufacturing facility to the Port of Tyne at Tyne Dock, South Shields.

The move will reportedly enable the business to increase efficiency, get goods to market more quickly and provide expansion opportunities.

First established in 1929, the company produces electrical connectors and LED lighting for the underground mining industry.

With over 85 years of experience in manufacturing, specialist mining and tunnelling equipment, the firm’s facilities are today located across Europe, the United States and South Africa.

Victor Products will occupy combined manufacturing and office space in one of the Port’s modern industrial units.

Nolan Gray, Business Development Director Port of Tyne, said: “Our facilities at Tyne Dock are perfect for businesses looking for modern industrial units with the added flexibility of using port services.

“We are delighted to welcome Victor Products to the Port and look forward to working together in the future.”

The move will see Victor Products manufacture a diverse range of components at the Port of Tyne facility that will be destined for use in underground mining facilities around the world.

Overall the Port of Tyne adds some £680 million gross value added to the economy of North East England supporting over 14,000 jobs directly and indirectly.

Stephen Turner, Financial Controller Victor Products Limited, said: “The Port of Tyne’s facilities offer unrivalled connectivity and provide expansion opportunities for the business.”
