Carden Park launches project to grow their golfing greens

Carden Park Country Estate is using the winter months to prepare its practice greens for 2018 as part of the ongoing project to enhance the facilities and golf areas to ensure Carden Park stands out as a leading national golf destination.

Carden Park has an expansive vista reaching right across Cheshire countryside and beyond, at its heart sit two impressive championship golf courses. The Nicklaus Course designed by the legend himself is described as the thinking man’s golf course whilst the Cheshire course offers a more traditional test of any golfer’s mettle.

To improve for the 2018 season over the winter a 300sqm chipping green is in progress at the country resort adjacent to both 1st holes. Along with a 200sqm stroke green that will expand the club’s facilities. Two practice bunkers will surround the new chipping green which will be completed by March of next year. The idea that golfers can warm up their short and medium shots immediately before games is very exciting for the club’s members.

As the game of golf evolves, the project hopes to further encourage new players especially younger players and girls to get on the green, as a way of establishing skills and techniques before hitting the championship courses.

Golf Professional Garry Houston who has been associated with Carden Park for 20 years says, “We have an ongoing project that looks to improve our offerings to deliver a great golfing experience for everyone. We strive to maintain our golf as one of the best in the UK and are as keen as ever to bring on the next generation of golfers. We love to see the youngster’s honing their skills and these improvements will allow them to do so surrounded and encouraged by the members and professionals.” Garry who saw recent success with the Great Britain and Ireland team winning their second consecutive PGA cup added, “The new chipping and putting greens will help with scoring leading to more enjoyment in golf.”
