Costa Coffee to create 20 jobs as first tenant at new East Hull business park
Costa Coffee is set to be the first tenant at a new business park in East Hull, creating 20 jobs.
Plans have been approved for a Costa Drive Thru store at a two-acre site on Littlefair Road, off Hedon Road, which will be the home of a new commercial property development.
There will also be a terrace of nine trade counter business units from 1,200 sq ft, with mezzanine floors above.
The development will be delivered by Beverley-based firm Tradepark Ltd, which purchased the derelict site in 2015.
Units are being marketed now and will be ready, along with Costa, in late 2018.
Mark Butters, director at Tradepark Ltd, commented: “After buying the site two years ago, we negotiated pre-let agreement with Costa and submitted planning six months ago. It’s exciting that our plans are finally coming to fruition and that we have such a well-known brand committed to the development.
“The location of this new business park is fantastic. More than 30,000 vehicles travel on Hedon Road every day and we will be at the heart of some of the city’s thriving industrial areas, close to Green Port Hull and the ferry terminal.”
Caroline Midgely, acquisition manager at Costa Coffee, added: “As the nation’s favourite coffee shop brand, we are delighted to be opening a brand new Drive Thru store on Hedon Road Business Park, bringing 20 new jobs to the local area.
“We are looking forward to being an active part of the local community when the store opens early next year, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising.”
Councillor Martin Mancey, portfolio holder for regeneration, investment and planning at Hull City Council, also said: “We continue to see new evidence of Hull’s growing economic strength. It’s a reflection of confidence in the city’s future that we have another formerly derelict site being redeveloped.
“It’s also telling that the first tenant here is one which will be there to serve other businesses yet to take up units – this national coffee chain clearly has no doubt that it will soon be joined by other businesses.
“The location of this development is fantastic and it will be a welcome addition to the city’s expanding commercial sector.”
