Two National Award Wins for Sally's Cottages

Local holiday cottage letting agency, Sally’s Cottages, has this week won two more awards, crowning a fantastically successful year for the company.

The agency has been awarded Silver in the Best UK Holiday Cottage Booking Company category in the prestigious 2017 British Travel Awards (BTAs). On top of this it, also won Best SME Growth at the National Forward Ladies Awards 2017.

The announcements were made at two separate Awards ceremonies held in London and Leeds respectively and attended by more than a thousand travel industry and business professionals. It is the third year in a row that Sally’s Cottages has won at the British Travel Awards and the Forward Ladies accolade follows a win at the regional awards earlier this year.

Sally Fielding set up Sally’s Cottages 14 years ago with one holiday cottage in Eskdale and just £1,000 in the bank. The company now has over 450 holiday cottages across the Lake District and Cumbria and has taken £7.6 million worth of bookings in the past year. As well as these most recent awards, the company was a finalist in the Amazon Growing Business Awards and, earlier in the year, scooped the Small Leisure and Tourism Business Award at the Cumbria Family Business Awards 2017

“It has been an excellent year for us,” comments Sally, “with several awards, strong bookings, and a fantastic, expanding team. We’re all thrilled to receive these two most recent awards – it’s great to get recognition for all the hard work and energy we all put in, and it also shows that Sally’s Cottages is a serious competitor to many much larger companies across the UK.”

British Travel Awards’ chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: Sally’s Cottages is to be congratulated on winning Silver in the Best UK Holiday Cottage Booking Company. The British Travel Awards is the largest consumer voted awards programme in the world and this year 722,473 votes were cast by the travelling public to determine the winners and to win is truly an accolade and a badge of excellence.“

The BTAs are the only travel industry accolade voted for exclusively by the consumer and the Awards serve to recognise all that is great about travel, as experienced by the travelling consumer.

Forward Ladies is one of the country’s leading organisations for the promotion of women in business. The esteemed Awards were introduced eight years ago to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the exceptional work and female talent throughout the business community. The judging process was strict and involved face to face interviews with independent judges from a variety of successful businesses including Sahar Hashemi, Founder of Coffee Republic, and Linda Plant from the Apprentice.
