JD Sports opens 40,000 sq ft flagship store in Liverpool
Sports fashion retailer JD Sports has opened its flagship site at Liverpool ONE.
Located on Paradise Street, the store is split over two levels and features a double-height glazed front illuminated with the company’s yellow and black branding.
London-based retail design company Brinkworth created the store’s interior. Transparent LED screens feature on the first-floor balcony, allowing live content to be played both for in-store customers and passersby.
Plans for the 40,000 sq ft shop were first unveiled in January.
Miles Dunnett from investor Grosvenor Europe, the company behind Liverpool ONE, said: “The opening of JD Sports’ new store on Paradise Street is a major moment for Liverpool ONE, and a fantastic endorsement of its status and desirability amongst leading brands.
“JD Sports adds to the excellent fashion line-up of stores at Liverpool ONE that are the very best representations of some of the most sought-after consumer brands in the world, including Zara, Apple, Victoria’s Secret, Beauty Bazaar Harvey Nichols, Michael Kors and Nespresso.”
Warren Thompson, head of acquisitions at JD Sports, commented: “The team worked incredibly hard to launch our new store in time for Christmas at Liverpool ONE and we are delighted with the results.
“JD Sports has always excelled in Liverpool ONE, but this new store is set to take the brand’s performance to another level.”
He added: “We are very excited to welcome visitors to the spectacular finished product, combining the very best mix of brands and product lines with an outstanding experience for our customers.”
Bury-headquartered JD Sports Fashion plc announced record half-year results in September, with profits climbing 33%.
Liverpool ONE was represented in the deal by property firms Cushman & Wakefield and Metis Real Estate Advisors. JD delt direct.
