London executive buys Lake District hotel for £830k
A London executive has left life in the capital to run a hotel in the Lake District.
Philip Nettleton, who formerly worked for tourism agency Visit England, acquired Rickerby Grange hotel near Keswick with his wife Charlotte.
The £830k deal was brokered by the hotels team at real estate advisory firm Colliers International.
Rickerby Grange was built in the 1920s as part of Rickerby Farm today has 10 en-suite letting bedrooms, a separate three-bed owners’ flat, gardens and parking spaces.
The site’s previous owners, Des and Carol Taylorson, are retiring.
Haydn Spedding, associate director, hotels agency at Colliers’ Manchester office, said: “Philip’s knowledge of the many work and lifestyle attractions of the Lake District through his work at Visit England played a key role in helping him and Charlotte to decide to relocate by acquiring Rickerby Grange.
“We now have offers or definite interest from credible buyers in almost all of the hotels and guest houses on our books in the North Lakes area.”
He added: “The Lake District continues to be Colliers’ most productive region for hospitality sector deals in the UK, with this being the latest of more than 30 sales in the past two years.”
