Market Place in Bolton wins prestigious award

Market Place in Bolton has scooped a prestigious national award for its outstanding service.

The security and cleaning team and the popular shopping centre won the overall Site of the Year Award for delivering outstanding service and were also shortlisted in a number of other categories for excellence.

The team from Market Place were presented with their award by their employers, bespoke security and cleaning company The Westgrove Group at their Annual Reward & Recognition Awards Ceremony, held last week at The Village Hotel in Warrington. The awards celebrate everything from acts of bravery and saving lives to service excellence in over 70 shopping centres across the country.

Claire McKinley Smith, Managing Director of The Westgrove Group, which employs over 1,000 people, said: “We were delighted that Market Place in Bolton won Site of the Year. They have delivered exceptionally high levels of customer service over the past 12 months achieving our prestigious Westgrove Aspire 7* Service Excellence accreditation, the highest level we award throughout the business.

“Our people are what make us special. From saving lives and reuniting lost children to preventing shoplifters and cleaning up after storm damage, our annual Reward & Recognition Award Ceremony is all about highlighting some of the incredible things our people do.”

Joanne O’Neill, Guest Services Manager for Market Place Shopping Centre, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award which has been achieved with the buy in from the whole team and a lot of hard work and enthusiasm.

“Being able to strive for 7* Service Excellence was a big goal and we did it with the help of quarterly mystery shops on the team in order to provide evidence of service, relaunching customer service and improved training for new team members. We also relaunched the tenants’ survey and focused on the “value added service” we provide in the centre.

“I am truly proud of my team - they are customer service ambassadors now and see this role as their key responsibility - and what we have achieved. It has made a massive difference to everyone.”

Nikki Wilson-Cook, Centre Manager at Market Place said: “I’m really proud of our achievement. My teams have gone above and beyond to deliver incredible customer service. They’ve listened, applied that knowledge and made changes that have directly impacted our tenants and customers in the most positive of ways.

“We have now won every award that Westgrove has implemented, which is just brilliant. But, we aren’t going to stop there – delivering impeccable customer service is a key priority for us and we intend to build on these successes throughout 2018 too.”

The Awards lunch, which welcomes over 100 guests, included talks from shopping centre security expert Paul Keeling, owner of The Senate Group, a leading UK provider of crisis management support, and Alex Staniforth, Westgrove’s brand ambassador and record-breaking endurance adventurer who has raised over £25,000 for The Young Minds Trust.
