Huddersfield Town FC teams with local bus operator as partner for match days
With over 120 buses operating in Huddersfield, First West Yorkshire has partnered with Huddersfield Town FC to become an official partner to encourage people to travel by bus during match days.
With an increasing numbers of fans travelling to Huddersfield Town FC from around the country, the football club is encouraging visitors to travel by bus to avoid the hassle of finding a parking space, or getting stuck in traffic.
During match days, First West Yorkshire operates 27 different bus services surrounding Huddersfield, Halifax and Bradford.
Speaking about the partnership, Martin Hirst, commercial director at First West Yorkshire, said: “Our frequent and great value buses can take you into Huddersfield and then it’s only a short walk across to the football stadium.
“We also offer a wide range of tickets available to suit the needs of different customers, including the Weekend 5 travel for £5 ticket, which is great value if you’re travelling with friends or family…
“Our cheapest tickets can be purchased directly from our tickets app in advance of boarding the bus.”
The local bus operator now offers various payment methods, with contactless and mobile ticketing available.
Fans visiting Huddersfield can also use the First Bus Travel app to check when their bus is due at their nearest bus stop. Free WiFi is also available on board many of the vehicles.
Huddersfield Town’s commercial director, Sean Jarvis, concluded: “I am delighted that First West Yorkshire has become a part of the Huddersfield Hundred.
“The buses are now state of the art and I would encourage fans to travel via public transport on match days especially with the amount of services and promotions they offer. We look forward to working with and all the team at First West Yorkshire.”
