Card services company Yorkshire Payments hits £470m transaction milestone
Card payment services provider Yorkshire Payments is celebrating after processing a record £470m in transactions over the last 12 months.
The milestone was announced today (August 28) alongside growth in the company’s Yorkshirewide client base, which rose 20% over the year.
Yorkshire Payments now serves 3,000 clients in the region, but expects this figure to hit 3,500 by the end of 2018.
It also plans to drive growth by establishing a presence on the high street.
Yorkshire Payments MD James Howard said: “Our growth this year has been significant. Statistics published in June from banking trade body, UK Finance, revealed that debit card payments outstripped cash payments for the first time in 2017.
“This is certainly reflected in the growth of our client base, as more businesses realise the importance of having card payment options in place to meet customer demand.”
He continued: “We have also recruited an additional ten staff members to the team in the last 12 months in line with our increasing workload, taking us to a total of 37 staff.
“Plans are also afoot to hopefully establish a high street presence with a ‘storefront’ in our hometown of Brighouse, which will create further jobs locally.”
Yorkshire Payments’ client base includes white goods manufacturer White Knight, Bradford City FC, Wetherby Racecourse and online travel company icelolly.com.
