Jet2.com expands Newcastle winter sun offering
British airline and holiday company Jet2.com will offer more than 250,000 seats on trips from Newcastle Airport to some of its most popular destinations this winter – 12 per cent more than it did in 2017/18.
The budget operator’s Winter Sun Wonderland programme for 2018/19 will see capacity increased on journeys to 13 ‘sunshine’ destinations, including resorts and cities in mainland Spain, Portugal, the Balearics and the Canary Islands.
More seats will also be made available on flights to Turkey and Cyprus.
The expansion comes as a growing number of Brits look to get away during the UK’s colder months.
Steve Heapy, Jet2.com’s CEO, explained: “This is our biggest and most exciting Winter Sun programme ever, giving customers from Newcastle Airport even more choice and flexibility when it comes to escaping the long British winter.
“As ever, we have designed our programme in direct response to demand from holidaymakers, and we are not done yet - there will be even more exciting announcements about our Winter 19/20 programme coming soon.”
Adding to Mr Heapy’s comments, Newcastle Airport Chief Operating Officer Richard Knight said: “We’re delighted to hear that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are releasing their biggest ever Winter Sun programme for winter 19/20.
“It’s great news for the Airport and our passengers, who will benefit from more seats and additional services to some of our most popular destinations.”
Almost half of the seats on sale will be on flights to Spain’s Canary Islands, with just under 120,000 landing in Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura.
