New app to help Leeds businesses with recruitment

A new web app designed to help streamline the recruitment process for Leeds’ hospitality businesses is set to launch this spring.

Created by local developers Justin Taundi and Chris Marshall, Werks is aiming to serve as a convenient alternative to “prohibitively expensive” trade press advertisements and “alienating” social media posts.

The app will also make it easier for job-hunters in the area to find suitable hospitality roles, the creators say.

Users on both sides will have access to a powerful search function, as well as an instant chat feature for quick correspondence when necessary.

Candidates’ profiles act as CVs, while business profiles showcase specially created “compatibility” scores, influenced by a range of markers, including location, interests, goals and availability.

According to Taundi, Leeds is the perfect place for Werks to launch. He explained: “Leeds has one of the most exciting hospitality scenes, with unrivalled growth year-on-year. The city is forward-thinking; the tech and digital industries are exciting, and somewhat interlinked with the hospitality industry.

“[Leeds is] also our city that we know and love. We have great people to collaborate with, in a market we know, and it was therefore a good place to start!”

Werks will launch in March.
