Yorkshire consultancy completes restoration on region’s first five-star country house hotel

Restoration has completed on Yorkshire’s first five-star country house hotel by a local consultancy firm.

Grantley Hall has been fully refurbished by construction consultancy practice Lucas Lee in a multimillion pound project ,with the landmark having achieved carbon neutral status as part of the renovation.

The newly completed Grantley Hall aims to deliver a ‘luxury’ hotel experience, offering bedrooms and suites, a range of dining options and bar facilities, a private members club and a bespoke venue space which can accomodate up to 200 guests.

Many of Grantley Hall’s existing period features, such as tiling, plasterwork, architraves, skirting and sash windows have been retained and restored, with new interventions such as bespoke lighting and tablet-controlled underfloor heating integrated to bring it into the modern day.

Though the work on the property started almost three years ago, the scheme might still have been ongoing for another two years had it not been for a bespoke procurement, project management, quantity surveying and contract administration strategy implemented by construction consultancy practice Lucas Lee.

Furthermore, both buildings on the Grantley Hall site are now entirely carbon neutral, having had a ground source heat pump installed.

Christopher Lee, founder and managing director of Lucas Lee said: “Our first job on this project was to model the entire estate and hall in Revit, a 3D modelling programme, from which we could establish an effective construction plan.

“We then brought together a design team who would be able to deliver the project in terms of architecture and engineering.

“It has been the largest engineering project in the North of England in the last five years – by quite some scale – and that is because we have had to minimise the impact of the new building on the old building.”
