Housebuilder raises over £2,000 for Candlighters charity with Great North Run
Five-star housebuilder, Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, has continued to show its support for local charities, by raising over £2,000 as one of the housebuilders’ Directors took part in the Great North Run in support of its charity of the year, Candlelighters.
Land and Development Director, David Coe, represented the housebuilder and supported children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters, by taking part in the Great North Run on the 8th of September, a 13 mile run which he completed in a phenominal 2 hours and 38 minutes. David Coe raised £1301 for his participation in the half-marathon and received a further £1,000 from Barratt Developments, taking the total raised to £2301.
David Coe, Land and Development Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: “I am so honoured to have been able to take part in the Great North Run on behalf of Barratt Developments and in support of Candlelighters! Candlelighters is our charity of the year so we really try to do as much as we can to support them. It was a huge personal achievement to take part and to help raise both money and awareness for the charity.”
Amy Harrison, Senior Corporate Partnerships Executive at Candlelighters, commented: “We were thrilled to hear that David would be taking part in the Great North Run in support of Candlelighters and are delighted that he managed to raise over £2,000. To provide our services, we rely totally on donations from organisations and the public so this will really help us to support children and families across Yorkshire affected by childhood cancer.”
Candlelighters, based in Leeds, supports children and their families who are affected by childhood cancer in Yorkshire. The charity supports families in a variety of different ways including offering holidays, providing home from home accommodation for families when children are staying on the children’s oncology ward, and providing support and wellbeing services at its very own support centre. Candlelighters also fund crucial research into childhood cancers.
