Escape room firm finds key to growth with five-figure HSBC UK funding
A Yorkshire business specialising in escape rooms has expanded across the region and beyond with support from HSBC UK.
Entertainment, hospitality and leisure firm The Escapologist has launched in four new locations, including two outside of the region, after securing a £65k package from the bank.
The new funding has enabled the firm to create new escape rooms within new and existing bars in Yorkshire and beyond, including The Works at High Wycombe and The Old Courthouse in Consett.
Oliver McClaren, chief operating officer of The Escapologist, commented: “This is a really pivotal moment in our growth.
“We’re delighted to have HSBC UK’s support as we expand from a small business with 2 regional venues in Selby & Xscape Yorkshire and 20 employees, into a national franchise with a double-digit number of sites across the country.”
“We’re excited to share our business concept with more people across Yorkshire and further afield.”
Scott Johnston, relationship manager for Business Banking Direct at HSBC UK, added: “We’re delighted to support the growth of The Escapologist as the company continues to increase its presence not only in Yorkshire, but also the wider UK.
“The company has tapped into a rapidly growing market and identified growth opportunities by working in partnership with existing businesses to create a unique experience for customers.
“The new escape rooms are already proving hugely popular among friends and colleagues alike, ensuring existing businesses continue to thrive with their new experiential entertainment offering.”
