Life After Lockdown: The agency offering "events in a box" to combat longterm industry setbacks
As the country emerges from lockdown, it’s a very different landscape for a lot of businesses.
Bdaily spoke to business owners across the country about how they’re changing their ways of working, and what innovations they’re adopting permanently after lockdown.
Events agency New Black Studio, based in London, is permanently offering “events in a box”.
The company said that the events industry will be impacted by the aftermath of lockdown “forever”.
Rebecca Brennan-Brown, of the New Black Studio, commented: “We work on large scale events like gala dinners and award shows for 200-900 people, and have obviously been hugely impacted by COVID-19.
“Unlike retail business etc, we will be impacted for a long time to come too. It will be some time before we can even start to think about having 200+ people in the same room, and online events just aren’t the same.
“So we changed from a service based business to product based. We created “Events in a Box”, which are custom made branded boxes which contain everything your guests would normally receive at an event, sent straight to their house.
“From keynote speeches to background music to food and drink, we can do it all.
“The only part that remains virtual is the “room”, each box contains a QR code to scan you into the online event where you can join your colleagues for a glass of wine. The boxes bridge the gap between online and in person events.
“We’ve had to learn everything from scratch. Delivery methods, alcohol licensing, pricing strategies, everything is so different.
“Thankfully they have been really well received, we’re quoting for thousands of boxes internationally right now.
“We’re obviously thrilled as I would guess live events will be cancelled until at least November.
“Beyond that, events will be hybrid forever, so the boxes will become a permanent offering.”
