Bubble tea brand brings taste of Taiwan to Newcastle with latest UK outlet
A Taiwanese bubble tea specialist has chosen a North East city as its third in England for the launch of its newest outlet.
Gong cha England, the UK-based operator for the Gong cha brand, has selected Newcastle as the location for its latest premises.
Gong cha England, which already operates sites in Manchester and Liverpool, will launch the new store near the Haymarket Metro station next month.
Operating 1,400 outlets across 19 different territories including Taiwan, Korea, New Zealand, and the US, Gong cha specialises in a range of bubble teas, along with optional extras such as pearls, jellies and the brand’s signature milk foam.
Justin Liew, head of Gong cha England, commented: “We have selected Haymarket for our next store as we are confident the people of Newcastle, who are keen to learn about new trends, will help us build the brand.
“The bubble tea trend has gripped Asia, Oceania and the US, where it is considered a Taiwanese speciality and now we are excited to introduce it to the city where we are confident the produce range will be very well received.”
