Manchester Event Planner Scores Lockdown Success with New Consultancy Business

Liz Taylor, CEO of the Manchester-based event planners, the Taylor Lynn Corporation, has made the most of unexpected time on her hands during the live event hiatus of the 2020 lockdowns. Liz has developed a consultancy company offering business development to the hotel and hospitality sectors, which has secured in excess of £150 000 worth of business in its first year and is projecting to double this in year two.

Running parallel to her successful event company, which also announced earlier this month a surge of £1.5 million worth of new event business, Liz provides brand consultancy to hotels, restaurants, event venues, catering and hospitality operators. The client portfolio has boasted a mix of independent and branded businesses, including GG Hospitality’s Hotel Football and Stock Exchange Hotel, owned by football player turned entrepreneurs Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, Victor’s Restaurants, Tom Kerridge’s Bull and Bear, Lone Star Boutique Hotel & Suites - Barbados, and Feast Kosher Catering.

Success has also meant diversification, as Liz Taylor explains: “The idea of a consultancy was conceived in 2018, but the business was certainly born in lockdown. My labour of love!

“I had time on my hands and wanted to remain positive and focussed, so invested my energy into fully launching the company. Using my 35 years’ experience as a luxury event planner, and having worked within the wider hospitality sector, I felt that I could provide a unique insight into how an event venue or hospitality company could develop new revenue ideas to target the discerning buyer. Thankfully, clients loved the concept, and the business took off.

“So much so, that I have been asked to broaden my services to support luxury retail brands, fashion companies and financial businesses, such as my client Broadway Insurance Brokers.”
Liz added: “Although it has been a challenging time to launch any new business, for me, it’s been a great focus and has allowed me to remain positive and productive. I am optimistic that 2021-22 will see us continue to grow, as the event and hospitality sector starts to re-emerge.”

Liz Taylor Consultancy also unifies the entrepreneur’s independent business projects, such as the launch of her successful podcast, Events That Made Me, which has featured in Apple’s Top 10 Business podcasts. And in addition, the company manages Liz Taylor’s roles as a motivational speaker, media commentator and later this year, the launch of her first book. Visit: www.liz-taylor-consulting.co.uk
