Taiwanese restaurant set to open fourth site with expansion into King's Cross
A Taiwanese restaurant is set to establish its fourth site in the capital as it gears up for a King’s Cross opening.
BAO, which has sites in Soho, Fitzrovia and Borough Market, is opening a new Cafe BAO in King’s Cross on 17 May.
The cafe, which is inspired by Yōshoku cuisine and Western style cafes found throughout Asia, is set across two floors, with interiors designed by Macaulay Sinclair in collaboration with BAO.
As well as meals, the company will serve cocktails and will feature a BAO Bakery.
Founder and creative director, Erchen Chang, commented: “The inspiration for Café BAO stemmed from Yōshoku cuisine, an interpretation of western food, seen through an Asian lens.
“This style of cooking is something that’s always resonated with us and made us feel quite nostalgic.
“After a recent trip to Taipei, Hong Kong and Osaka we realised we wanted to bring it to life.”
